Please read below instruction to get started quickly.
The first step is to define connection(s). In order to define a connection, select Settings -> Connections... menu item. You have 3 available connection placeholders for up to 3 serial buses and one for Ethernet connection. If you have a single serial bus, define settings in Serial port #1 group. Check Enabled box for every active connection and click Save button to close the dialog. The program will try to open enabled connections.

Once at least one connection is defined, you need tags to define how data will be read from Modbus devices and how it will be processed and displayed. In order to add a tag, select Settings -> Tags menu. Click Add tag button to open tag properties dialog. Fill in all required parameters such as Displayed name, Communication port, Slave address, Modbus function, Register address.
If you need a function to be used for real value calculation (e.g. to multiply the read value by a given factor) click Define f(x) button to open function definition dialog. The easiest way to define function is by wizard.

Screen is a window presenting your tag's values at run-time. To add a new screen, select Settings -> Screens... menu item. Once screens definition dialog opens, click Add screen button. Once screen is added, you can open it by clicking the corresponding item on Object Navigator tree.

Your screen appears on your desktop. Resize it as required. In order to add a background image click mouse right button and select Screen properties... from a pop-up menu.
In order to put objects on your screen click mouse right button. The pop-up menu shows up. Select New object... item.

Select the type of the object. Fill in required parameters and confrm.

Now you have your object put on the screen. You can reposition objects with drag and drop technique.
